Monday February 23

Friday -- Wilma's son Bill is here to visit for a few days. He ran with me to the end of Eastern Shore then he walked back with the walkers. He said I was not very fast but went on and on like the Energizer Bunny.
The resort had a Managers Cocktail party/happy hour. Paul did not go but I did and enjoyed the free conch fritters.
A large group from dock 4 went to Junior Junkanoo. Paul took me in on the scooter but he came back home-- after he stopped to pick up a pizza. I was disappointed. There were 2 small rushes. The costumes were not much and would have been less without the mask the Yacht club collected after the Commodores Ball then donated to the kids. Fred recognized his mask. I saw a couple of green ones but don't know if one was mine or not.
Saturday I ran by myself.
I had told Wilma about baking an Angel food cake on Tuesday and since it was her son Bill's birthday she ask me to bake 2 angel food cakes-- actually 4 loafs. Wilma got strawberries and made whipped topping. We had a dock 4 happy hour and served the cake.
After Happy hour many of us-- not Paul, walked downtown for the Senior Junkanoo. It started about 9pm. There were 5 rushes. The first 2 were small but better than last night. Wilma and several others left before the next 3 -- there was a long break between rushes. Paul showed up to watch one-- thank goodness he picked the time for a good one. The last 3 were worth the wait -- the last one was The Spring City Rockers and they were fantastic as were their costumes. I will post some pictures when I get them from Fred.
We only stayed through the first set of rushes -- all the rushes go one way then it is like it starts over again and they rush back the other way. It was after midnight when we got home. Howard, the assistant dock master here said he left at 4AM and it was not over yet.
Sunday I did sleep in then went out to run.I roasted a turkey and invited Judy & Fred for dinner. Late afternoon Betty & David on Tar Heel came back in. They had left to go south but their inverter broke so they came back. I knew they were feeling bad so I invited them for dinner also. I made turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, salad and rolls. I made fruit jello for dessert and served it with ginger snaps. Betty said it was great comfort food.
We watched the NASCAR race during and after dinner. I informed everybody that was a provision for coming for dinner.
Today I went to run as soon as the morning meeting was over. I took a quick shower then Paul took me to Stitch & Bitch. I was going to work on my apron but Sherry was there to give us a water color lesson. I made 2 bookmarks. After Sherry left I worked on my apron some more.
We had left overs for dinner.

Thursday Feb 19

Monday I left right after the morning Yacht Club meeting to go for my run. When I got home I quickly showered and dressed to go to Stitch & Bitch. I have not been for awhile so I am a little behind but I got started on my apron - our new project this winter. We are decorating white aprons with fabric paints for us to wear while we are doing our "crafts". My is going to have sea horses on the top and mixed shells on the bottom.
Paul picked me up at 2. I had to come home early for a planning meeting for the March social.
Tuesday -- I went for my run - Wilma is not running with me anymore. She is walking with Wink.
At noon I joined 5 other ladies at Magnum Opus for a very nice lunch then a jewelry "jam" session. I wrapped some sea glass and worked on my crochet necklace.
I came home at 3 to start dinner.
Margo and Dennis and Sherry came for dinner. I made spaghetti, my homemade Italian bread, salad and angel food cake with fresh strawberries.
We played Apples to Apples.
Wednesday -- I went for my run then after a quick shower I met Susan to take her to the ferry then brought her car home so I could drive to Ladies Lunch.
Judy & I had a small jewelry show at 11. I left at 11:45 to go to Ladies Lunch. We went to the Chinese restaurant -- very good.
I dropped Margo & Betty off here after lunch then went to pick up Susan and return her car.
I got home just in time to freshen up and head to a meeting with the dietary staff here at the resort to plan the menus ( and discuss prices) for the up coming Yacht club functions.
Today I slept in. I didn't go run until 9:30. A cold front is coming through so the weather was just about perfect for running.
I had a few jewelry orders to fill so I got those done today then just sort of rested.

Sunday February 15

Wow, it has been over a week since I last posted. A week but a very busy week.
I know I am going to miss some things in this post but here goes.
Last week end NASCAR season started with the Bud Shoot out. I made time to see the NASCAR races.
Sherry and Fred, Chipka Fire, hosted a noontime happy hour for dock 4 -- picture above. We had so much GREAT food. Sherry did a fantastic job organizing "her happy hour party". Everybody had a great time.
Tuesday was the Yacht club annual meeting. Wilma was elected Secretary and I am the new social chairman -- it is going to be an interesting year.
Margo Caldy came to our boat and did our 2009 Coast Guard Inspection. We like to have our current sticker when we head back to the states.
I worked very hard all week getting jewelry ready for Man O War flea market but first the BIG Commodores Ball. The theme was Mardis Gras. It was a fabulous party.
I will be posting some pictures.
The food was great, the costumes were great and then the dancing. Paul did dance some then headed home at 9 pm. I think he is afraid he might be Cinderfeller or someting and turn into a pumpkin. I stayed another hour and danced my legs off. I had a ball at the ball.
Saturday morning Odyssey was off the dock at 6:32 AM ( the reason for Cinderfeller coming home early). Judy, Amarse, was with us. We went to Charlie's dock.
After we put the dinghy down Judy & I loaded our precious jewels into the dinghy then off to the flea market.
The crowds arrived before Judy & I had a chance to get set up but we worked away and I thought our table looked great. Obviously other people did also because we did real well. We were concerned with everything else down with the economy our business would be also but we did better than last year.
Paul & Fred, Amarse, moved Odyssey from Charlies dock to Pappy's Lands dock at high tide. It was low tide we we arrived at Man O War.
Paul, Jeanie,& I had dinner from the place that replaced Hibiscus Cafe. Paul & Jeanie had ribs and I had the barbecued chicken-- great food.
Charlie & Judy Corkum hosted a big Sunday brunch with lots of great food. We met several new, very nice, people.
We were going to stay at Pappy's Land for several days but a bad cold front is predicated for tomorrow so we brought Odyssey back to Boat Harbour.
We missed a Shade Mor trip to Nippers-- we will try not to miss the next one.
We watched the Daytona 500 -- not a very good race -- hope for better luck next week.

Friday evening

I am watching NASCAR on TV and I will try to add a few more pictures to my Blog
It has been really cold (Low 58) the last 2 days so I am hibernating. I was looking at the pictures of the chili cookoff and got the idea to make a big pot of chili.
I cannot get these pitures up to label them. I posted several pitures of chili from the chili cook off. There is a picture of "the" bartender" at the chili cook off.
There are a few pictures of Tahiti Beach and some of the shells we saw -- a Queen Helmut, A sea urchin and a starfish.
There are pictures of one of our many wonderful lobster dinners on John Henry.
There is one picture from our big full moon party. Notice the beautiful full moon.
We do real well on the parties.
The picture of us in the dinghy was taken on our way to Little Harbour.

Wednesday Feb 4

We had 5 great days with Grandson John and Daughter-in-law Kris. They arrived last Friday to beautiful sunshine. We spent the afternoon at the pool. For dinner we had the lobster Paul caught on Wednesday.
Kris, John & I went to Mangos for happy hour. Brown Tip was playing Rake & Scrape. John joined him with the Bongos.
Saturday we went to The Hibiscus Cafe for coconut conch, a favorite of mine and Johns.
That evening we went to The Jib room for steak night then the limbo show. Again John joined in.
He had fun.
Sunday we went to the beach. John and Kris went snorkeling even though it was pretty chili.
We all went to the Super Bowl party here at the resort. We enjoyed great food and the giant TV screen. I am not really all that into football but since Kris & John are from Pittsburgh they really enjoyed it-- except John could not quite make it to the end so he and Grandpa came back to the boat and missed the best part of the game.
Monday we took Wink's skiff to Mermaid Reef for snorkeling. I "tended" the boat while John, Kris and Paul snorkeled. They saw lots of different fish and also lots of lobster but Mermaid Reef is a National Park and therefore a no take zone- darn. The ride back to the boat was fine until the last mile and then it was very rough but we got home fine.
We had a big happy hour on the dock. Judy Law baked and decorated a wonderful chocolate birthday cake for Kris. I made her a purple necklace, her favorite color.
Tuesday we sorted shells and packed up a bunch for them to take home then all too soon they were off to the airport and back to Pittsburgh and, although I am complaining about the cold here, much colder temperatures and snow. I'll stick to my white stuff being sand.
I posted a few pictures but more to come.
