Tuesday Oct 26

We left Brunswick GA on Monday Oct 18 --only 3 days later than we had planned but I think this is about the same date as last year. Our Buddy Boat is Premium Time with Karen & David Trauger.
Karen is a really neat person and I know we are going to have lots of fun together.
We only went to Fort George the first night. We had a nice anchorage UNTIL the no seeums chased us all in doors. But we were all tired from all the last minute hassle of getting ready to leave. Last minute --not because we didn't have almost 4 months to get everything done but because we waited until the last minute to do so much. Paul was the worst and he was exhausted. He was in high gear all day Sunday and even missed a wonderful dinner with friends at Longhorn Steakhouse. I had a great time.
Tuesday we cruised on to Fort Mantanzas just below St Augustine--The picture below is Premium Time going through St Augustine. It is such a beautiful city.
Karen put her dinghy down and she and I went to the beach. Paul & I have anchored there many times. We have gone swimming there several times and Paul usually takes advantage of the clear water to check the props and the bottom -- sometimes it is a little hard to do because there is a swift current. But I have never been to the beach there and it was beautiful and I loved every minute.
I invited them for dinner --taco salads.
Wednesday Paul decided to come down with a cold. Don't know where he got it. He said it was because he got over tired on Sunday. I did not say if he had gotten it in gear weeks earlier that would not have happened but I hate the fact that he picked up the cold and then gave it to me. By Saturday I was miserable right along with him.
We ate so much chicken soup I don't want to hear the word chicken soup. We are both feeling better now but I am stuck with a cough as usual.
After Fort Mantanzas we had a nice Cruise through Daytona Beach. Paul and I have so many great memories of our motor-cycle days there.
We anchored in Mosquito Lagoon. Our 18X50 binoculars allowed me to see the space shuttle on the launch pad. It is to be launched next week. It is a daytime launch which we are not able to see well in the Bahamas --now I am thinking we may still be here and see it very well. Guess there has to be a plus side to waiting.
At Peck Lake Karen put her dinghy down and again we went to a beautiful beach and I shelled to my hearts content --even though I did not feel good I had a good time.
I think this about catches us up -- Oh no I forgot to say Margo & Dennis, boater friends from the Yacht club, have a home here in North Palm--actually their condo overlooks the anchorage where we are. Margo took Karen and me shopping then we picked up the guys and all went to my favorite Five Guys Burgers and Fries -- that is after the guys made their second trip to West Marine

Paul really misses riding his scooter. He put over 2500 miles on it in a little over 3 months. This scooter will be great for us to go longer distances in the Bahamas and much more comfortably. Also next summer we hope to go to the Eastern shore of Maryland and we can do a lot of sight seeing with it there.

This was our view at the anchorage at Hole in The Wall, just north of Vero Beach.
On our left we had a gorgeous sunset, in front of us Premium Time and on our right was the beautiful full moon. To top it all off we had several Manatees --perfect evening --perfect anchorage

Premium Time anchored in front of us

Hope these come out the way I am trying to do this

I am having an awful time getting the pictures in this

Tuesday October 26

We saw several Manatees. We saw more circles of where they were. The pictures of the Manatees are very hard to get but this "bump" in the water is one of several in our anchorage one night

We had lots of dolphins on our trip south. I got what I think are several good pictures. I will not post them all. If you look closely in this one you can see some of the many jelly fish. We saw more this year than I ever remember

We are now in Lake Worth ( North Palm Beach) playing the waiting game for our crossing window to the Bahamas

Catch up time

Here goes with the catch up. I will not make this long and drawn out.
I left off with my first trip to OH/WV. My sister Becky and her husband John came from Texas to my brothers house in Wheeling while I was there. We had some real quality time as a family. We saw a big difference in our 96 year young Mother just having us around. She really perked up and seemed happy to have us.
Daughter-in-law Kris and Grandson John also came to Wheeling. John is bigger than me-- taller not bigger.
For all my trips I have to say how very lucky I am to have such a VERY special daughter to cart me around, loan me her car, give me a place to stay in Columbus and on top of all that arranged a massage with her excellent masseuse.
I spent a week in Columbus before I went back to Brunswick and got to catch up with friends there --Great time!
I was gone 3 weeks. Paul did miss me because he had a dozen yellow roses waiting for me maybe I need to go away more often -- I tried it again in Sept -- no roses. I was only gone a week-- maybe that was not long enough.
My trip back to OH/WV in Sept was to attend my High school all class reunion. Don't know where all those old people came from. Good time. Saw people I have not seen since High School.
Paul & I made a trip to North Carolina. Good friends gave us the loan of their Mercedes --we go in style. We had a wonderful visit with Paul,s Mom and sister Carolyn. We went to Durham to see nephew Brad and wife D.D. and their beautiful new baby girl Brynn. I have never seen so much hair on a baby.
So what did Paul do while I was gone. Besides partying, he replaced ALL of our batteries --guess I should have gone to work while I was in OH. He did a bunch of "stuff" in the engine room. He also found time to put 2500 miles on the new scooter. Speaking of which, I was REALLY nervous putting it on the boat for the first time. All went well but I am a lot more nervous with this one than the other one. It weighs a lot more. I was so afraid it would not fit but Paul kept assuring me it would and it does. It only seems to take up a little more room than the other one. We will be able to take a lot longer trips in the Bahamas and a lot more comfortably.
I have hated the carpeting we had put in 2 years ago ever since we got it so we finally had it replaced and I love the new carpeting.
I watched the buy one get one free ads from the grocery stores in Brunswick and had about 3/4 of my provisioning done by Oct 1. I spent the last 2 weeks finishing up. Shopping is not the hard part --finding a place to put 8 months provisioning is. We did buy another freezer. I bought 25 pounds of shrimp from the shrimp boat when it came in --Big shrimp $4/pound.
We were gearing for an Oct 15 departure from Brunswick. We left on Oct 18 --not bad.
When we filled up the fuel tank it took 322 gallons. We had not filled up since last Oct when we took 311 gallons for the year. Not to bad.
Karen & David Trauger on their Great Harbour Premium Time (Insurance agent) are traveling with us to The Bahamas. Karen is a neat person and we are and will have a lot of fun together. Bad thing -- she is an excellent cook and like to feed us.
I will post this then go to Pictures.
